INSIDE THE FPHL: Justin Macdonald

by Alex Davis

There are many players from the Mississippi Surge era of Biloxi professional hockey that fans remember. Matt Zultek, Steve Weidlich, Chris Chambers, Michael Richard.

Despite playing just one season for the Surge, a player that became a quick favorite in Biloxi was Justin Macdonald, who currently plays in the FPHL with the Watertown Wolves.

In 81 FPHL games, former Surge Macdonald has scored 158 points including 67 goals.

After winning the SPHL President’s Cup with fellow former Surge player Brent Clarke, Justin now owns and operates a personal training business in the Toronto area. You can follow his work at CTGHockey.com

Clarke is the Head Coach of the Watertown Wolves, and this year Macdonald is the player/assistant for Watertown to test the waters on the coaching side of hockey.

Justin Macdonald remembers his time in Biloxi very well.

“I loved playing in Biloxi as there was always something to do. Whether we went to New Orleans, or went to one of the casinos, there was always something going on. I remember cutting my hair for cancer there on the ice, where 11 inches were donated to a local charity.”
